Some of the outstanding features on this drone include the front collision detection technology. As the name suggests, this autonomous technology shields the drone from bumping into obstacles while flying.

The collision detection technology can sense objects that are as far as 49 feet away. However, this function may fail to work as claimed under low light intensity. Apart from the collision detection technology, DJI Mavic Pro features the GPS and GLONASS systems that provide an easy flight control and navigation.

Another feature that ranks the DJI Mavic Pro Fly More Combo on top of the competition is its 12MP camera with a three-axis gimbal for quality photo and video shooting. The high-definition 4K camera also supports the first person view that lets you watch live footage using your smartphone. You can also check out its brother, the DJI Phantom 4, it also sports a 4K camera.

DJI Mavic Pro Remote Control & Set- Up for First Flight

Remote control

DJI Mavic Pro Fly More Combo’s compact size controller has fewer keys to make flight control a less tasking job. Besides the control buttons, the remote controller also has two antennas for enhanced communication between the drone and controller, and rubberized grips to hold your mobile gadget when streaming live videos. The controller’s USB port lets you connect your smartphone for app control.

The primary keys found on the drone’s controller include the return to home button located on the top left side of the controller. The keys activate or deactivate the return to home mode.

The drone’s right control stick is positioned below the return to home button. When you push the control stick upwards, the drone takes off, and when you push it down the drone lands. On the other hand, when you press the control key to the right side, the drone rotates clockwise, and if you press the control stick leftwards, the drone makes an anti-clockwise rotation.

The controller’s power on/off button is located on the top right side of the controller. Just below the on/off button is the right control stick that flies the drone forward, backward, leftward, and rightward. The controller’s LCD screen displays the drone and the RC’s status.

Flying the Drone

Flying the drone is not a difficult task once you have mastered the functions of each key on the remote control. The straightforward process entails attaching the propellers securely to their mounting base, fixing charged batteries into the battery compartment, and unfolding the drone’s arms.

After assembling the drone, unfold the controller’s antennas and clamp. Afterwards, get the drone into an open place, ready for your first flight. You should not fly the drone outdoor during a rainy or snowy weather since the elements can destroy the quadcopter.

While in an open space, switch on the remote controller as well as the aircraft. To start the drone’s motors, push both the left and right control sticks to the bottom inward or the bottom outward till the remote controller’s screen reads ‘ready to Go.’

If the drone is ready to take off, lift the left control stick slowly to get the drone airborne. Since this is your first flight, we suggest that you fly the drone to a height of about ten meters above the ground to avoid crashes that might destroy the quadcopter.

While the drone is airborne, try rotating it to the clockwise or anti-clockwise direction using the left control stick. You could also move it forward, backward, right, or left using the control stick on the right.

If you want to land, pull the left stick downward slowly until the drone touches the ground. Hold the control stick for a few seconds to switch off the drone’s motors.

For a successful flight, we recommend that you charge the remote control and the drone fully before each flight. It is also important that you secure the propeller blades tightly to eliminate crashing resulting from the blades getting off.
